Hello Chris,

Are your red Kenningtons still mad at me?

I believe its not only the depression in the ground, but also their central position in your (excellent) photograph and their red color in a blue crowd that make them pull the extra attention.

But please do not forget, in my own collections a hotchpotch of all kinds of different 20mm to 23mm figurines can be found too.
Because you and me just collected all variations that were ever available.
And use them because we love the richness of the different poses and units.
But please correct me if you see it a different way.
If you look at old pictures of my mass diorama's, you will find short fat ones next to long thin examples too.
Sometimes I shrunk Streletz heads with my photo retouche program to make the picture look a bit more balanced.
Which is considered by some as a sin.
Perfectionism is a heavy task. ;)

Hello Mr C.

I can report that they are still in the Miller cornfield so you are safe!

Yes, I do not know why manufacturers ( just like ladies clothes sellers) insist on interpreting the System International of measurements rather than using them as the measure they were designed for.

The penchant for big heads ala Old Glory etc seems to be the latest thing.

I have two other units of these fellows to deploy and following your excellent observation will be more careful in future!

Best wishes to you and your wife.

Chris

The Battle of Antietam ( Sharpsburg) September 17th 1862

Timeline 7.45 AM

Overview.

The Union Twelfth Corps Major General Joseph K.F. Mansfield commanding is advancing through the Miller cornfield and East Woods towards the Smoketown Road and Mumma farm.

Bild

First Corps Major General Joseph Hooker commanding has exhausted its offensive capacity and has taken up a defensive role stretching from the cornfield towards the Nicodemus Heights.

Bild

Confederate artillery are subjecting the Union advance to a withering bombardment. The Union artillery response is muted due to the difficulty in deploying the Twelfth Corps guns as the infantry advance.

Bild

Brigadier General John B. Hood’s Confederate division is deploying by the Dunker church with a view to counter attack the flank of the Union advance.

Bild

Colonel A.H. Colquitt’s Brigade from Major General Daniel H Hills Division is advancing from the sunken lane area to support Brigadier General Roswell S. Ripley’s North Carolina Brigade by the Mumma farm.

Bild

Ripley aware that he is outnumbered decides to order the burning of the Mumma farm in order to deprive the Union troops of cover and also disrupt their advance.

Bild

The battered Confederate line along the Smoketown Road braces itself for the next assault with trepidation .

Hey Chris,
what you are showing us here is once again great cinema.
and not to be outdone in terms of realism...
The perfection in detail can hardly be surpassed.
You really thought of everything!
I particularly like the corn field with the fences in front of it!

Diorama Art at it´s best. Your pictures look incredibly real...and the use of a smoke machine is the "icing on the cake". Very good stuff Sir!

The Battle of Antietam ( Sharpsburg ) 17th September 1862

Timeline 8.00AM

The second Division, Twelfth Corps , Brigadier George S Greene commanding is advancing towards the Smoketown Road.

Bild

This Division has many raw recruits with little training resulting in potential command and control difficulties. This has been reflected by a dice loading on movement rolls for Twelfth Corps along with an unformed status at the end of each move.

Brigadier General John B Hood’s veteran Division is deploying in order to take the Union advance in the flank.

Bild

Contemporaneously, the First Division, Twelfth Corps Brigadier General Alpheus Williams, again with a high proportion of new recruits, is advancing out of the East Woods in order to outflank the Confederate position by the Mumma farm.

Bild

As the battle rages the wounded seek assistance in increasing numbers.

Confederates and Union alike are being tended by the Mary Loacher farmhouse in the West wood.

Again very nice scenes. Very nice mass collections.
The smoke makes the scenes look very realistic.
