Herbst 1944

Hersbst 1944

I made this little scene up using a sand table based on one of my favourite films, Cross of Iron with a little additional research into Eastern Front defences.

The T34s are die cast repainted models I picked up at a war games show.

The troops are from various manufacturers including SHQ,Italieri, HAT, Plastic Soldier Company etc.

There are many conversions to try an create an action 'feel'.

Whilst the barbed wire is a little too large at 28mm scale I hope that it doesn't detract too much.

I have used theatrical haze to create an autumnal effect.

The great thing about die cast models is that you can set fire to them without them melting!

Best wishes,

Chris

This is a fantastic diorama and Scenery !! Is the fire on the T 34 real or is it a trick ?

However - it looks real. You or your Wife use the camera in a perfect way!

Thank you for your kind comments.

Yes, it's really on fire. The only problem with real flames are they soon get aspirational and want to be 54mm or bigger!

My wife, Der Feldmarschall is not only very tolerant, but also very helpful in research and ideas.

However, her sense of humour is sometimes a nuisance when you find mushrooms and broccoli in your woods after taking what you thought was a good picture.

Best wishes,

Chris

Ich wußte das das Feuer echt ist . Auf einem Bild kann man das Zündholz sehen ! Gute Stimmungsbilder .
I know that the fire is real . You can see the Match in one Picture .

Hi, Thank you again.

However the item you refer to is not a match.

It is a parachute flare used to call in artillery support.

Best wishes,

Chris

Sehr dichte und realistische Szenerie. Wie immer bei deinen Bildern sehr gut gemacht!
