Please note, however, that the French infantry, as well as the artillery in 1815, no longer had any hangings on their shakos.

Regards,
Frank
Oh, I'm sure you will find plenty more things that are wrong before I am done...

All good. I didn't want to make you sad. But if you are already doing your work so accurately and well, such subtleties are part of it. I hope you don't take it from me :D

Hi Frank,

No harm done: please understand that I aim for accuracy indeed, but if there is one place where I allow myself a little leeway, it's about uniform regulations...
I hope it doesn't deter too much from the overall scene.
It's hard to explain without writing a novel, but this project is about aesthetics more than anything else.

Lastly, I can take criticism when it's constructive, which was the case with your comment.

Again, no harm done, and again, there might be more stuff that will make you roll your "reenactor's eye" ! :D
Please keep on commenting.

The drummer now looks perfect. Thanks for taking note.

Of particular interest to me is the distressed limber and horses. I have attempted similar with one of my dioramas as attached. A bit difficult to view with brown horses on brown mud background, it does highlight my second attempt to model the rye crop that dominated the whole Waterloo battlefield. But I am still not satisfied, so looking forward to a better solution..

I used dyed horse hair along with Woodland Scenics long grasses for Quatre Bras.

It works very well.

I plan on using Martin Wellberg Studios material for the decor.
AMAZING stuff he produces!

Hallo,

More exploratory work, trying to come up with a "natural" disposition/agglomeration of the bodies and casualties.

Hallo,

So, I made good on Frank's/Caporal's comment about the cords/raquettes and other hangings and X-actoed them all off: we now have oilskin covers.

Thank god I could do it before I had glued the pieces on the board!
