Im Garten: Mephistopheles, Faust and Gretchen

Beitrag von Cryns » So 10. Mai 2020, 16:36

Some of you have already seen it in another forum but here I like to share with you once more the latest work of our hobbyfriend Kostis Ornerakis with his permission:

IM GARTEN

by KOSTIS ORNERAKIS

Depicting Faust, Gretchen and Mephistopheles

Using sculpted & 3D printed figurines

The Mephistopheles figurine is sculpted by Alex Gusev:

Faust and Gretchen are 3D prints from Shapeways:

Personally I like the use of colors, the painting style in combination with the landscaping and scenery colors very much.
And, of course, the anatomic body sculpting of Mephisto by Gusev. Nice slim body with no fat and not too much muscles.
Its interesting to have a look at what Kostis writes about the material to create Gretchen and Faust:

The woman (Gretchen) is:

but I have changed the head with a copy of:

The man (Faust) is a downscaled:

with a copy of the hat from Alex's FIGZ 2013 special figure.

Some of our German forummembers remember reading Goethe's Faust at highschool.
At age 13 I had to play a minor part in a school theatre play called 'The Game of Faust', which was a Dutch translation of a German play that was adapted from Goethes original work.

I also really like the style of painting that Kostis uses! Somehow soft, yet deep and very realistic. Kostis, if you read here - great work and warm regards!

Dear Kostis I can only repeat what I've wrote at Benno...
What a wonderful, unusual topic...german heavy literature ...
Fantastic and brilliant implementation in one model.
Even if I didn't have to read the book at school, I know the story,
but your interpretation is a masterpiece!
# What I just noticed ... if you take a closer look one can think the tree grows out of the base.

Feine kleine Szene. Ungewöhnliches Thema. Klasse. Und der Sockel passt klasse dazu.

You are welcome dear Kostis.

Now I see you gave Faust another hand too.
